“Leather Engineers and Technologists Society, Bangladesh (LETSB)” is none other than the bonafide organization on its field of Leather/Footwear/Leather Products Engineers/Technologists in Bangladesh, established in 1989 and the number of members is 1225 as of January, 2016.
LETSB got its new Executive Committee for 2016-2018. The committee, a 23-member cabinet had been newly elected by direct voting of a general election among the members, held in December 25, 2015. After every 3-year the election is to carry out and resulting new committee.
Mr. Minhaz Ahmed Chowdhury, Production Manager (Rtd.), Bata Bangladesh ltd. and Mr. A.K.M Mushfiqur Rahman, Managing Director, Accenture Leather Products Ltd. were elected President and General Secretary respectively along with the rest cabinet members of LETSB for 2016-2018. The wining team started beginning its journey by meeting local guardian Mr. Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, Member of Parliament, Constituent Number Dhaka-10.
For the regime of 2016-2018, the election has been taken place with festive mode in the premises of Institute of Leather Engineering and Technology (ILET), University of Dhaka, having spontaneous presence of the members. After scrutiny 1125 members were considered to be legal voters, and amazingly, among them 1099 votes had been casted.
The election has been conducted, observed and supervised by the concerned Government authority of ‘Joint Stock Companies and Firms’ with the assistance of Law and Enforcement. It starts at 8:00 AM and ends at 4:00 PM without interval. And finally, result comes from the Election Commission at 8:45 PM. All the members and candidates admit the results as well as losing candidates congratulate wining candidates gladly.
January 20, 2016 the existing committee of 2013-2015 chaired by the then President and General Secretary has officially been handed over the responsibility and sovereignty to the new committee.
